Nobody to Tell at the End of the Day
Some people have nobody to tell at the end of a bad day.
Not obviously. They have colleagues, a family, people who would come if called. What they do not have is one person they can hand the day to, without having to manage how it lands.
Some live alone. Some are surrounded by people and still have nobody they can actually say it to. A partner who has heard enough about the job. Friends who moved on to different lives years ago. A team that needs you steady, and a boss who is part of the problem.
The reasons vary. It stays with you either way.
They almost never bring this up either, and I understand why. Saying you have nobody to talk to sounds like something is wrong with you rather than something that is true about your life. So people manage instead. Most of them manage well, better than people with far more support around them.
But managing is not the same as having somewhere to put it down.
You do not need a difficult week to want an hour of that. Just somebody to say the whole of it to, who will not judge a word of it and will never repeat any of it.
