The Person Everyone Leans On

28 July 2026

Every place I have worked, there has been someone the whole team quietly runs on.

Not the loudest person. Not always the most senior. Just the one everyone drifts towards when something is wrong. The one who takes the bad news in a meeting without their face moving, and then, on the way out, asks if you are alright.

I have been that person for a good part of my career. And I have watched plenty of others be it.

Here is what nobody notices about them. Nobody ever asks them the same question back. It does not occur to anyone to ask. They carry it so well that everyone assumes there is nothing there to carry.

There always is.

I have come to think the calmer someone looks, the longer they have probably been holding something with nowhere to put it down. We call it being dependable. Mostly it is just years of practice at not letting it show.

That is who I built Candid Offload for. The steady one. The person everybody leans on and nobody thinks to check on.

Fifteen minutes. No cost. Completely confidential. Not therapy, not coaching, nothing to sign up for. Just a conversation with someone who has been the dependable one long enough to know what it quietly takes out of you.

If you read this and a face came to mind, send it to them. They are not going to ask for it themselves. That is the point of it.

The first conversation is on me. Fifteen minutes, confidential, no commitment.
